Rostock: Outside displays show intermodal real-time information at stops and stations

More transparency for customers

18.09.2014

Now it´s ready: All outside passenger displays, financed by the project and placed at selected stops and stations between Rostock port and City centre/ main station, show intermodal cross-border real-time information. This is special in two respects. The real-time information is provided for four different means of transport (bus, tram, city train and ferry) and three different transport operators (RSAG, Deutsche Bahn and Scandlines).  As a prerequisite for this, a significant technical upgrade of the real-time passenger control centre of Rostocker Straßenbahn AG (Rostock´s local public bus and tram provider) was necessary. The running test operation is used to finally check functionality of the system and to eliminate technical shortcomings. Moreover partners take this opportunity to further improve the service with regard to special needs of (foreign) visitors (bi-lingual information, comprehensibility of provided information).

By bringing intermodal real time information on screens, one further element of passenger information system could be successfully implemented. Already since June/ July 2014 intermodal real-time information is available via mobile application, internet and inside screens at the passenger terminal of Rostock port.
