Passenger services Darłowo – Nexø will be continued in the long term

Municipality of Darłowo signs cooperation agreement with ferry operator Kołobrzeska Żegluga Pasażerska

25.10.2013

The Municipality of Darłowo reached agreement with the ferry operator Kołobrzeska Żegluga Pasażerska (KZP) to continue the passenger ferry connection to Nexø / Bornholm in the coming years. The respective contract was signed on 25 Oct 2013. KZP commits to offer 6- 8 sailings per seasons in both directions in the years 2014 - 2019.

The municipality and the local tourist organization will support KZP in the promotion of the connection. For 2014, e.g. “open ship” events in the beginning of the season, the creation of a promotion movie on Bornholm and the ferry passage, joint visits of tourist fairs and press journeys to Bornholm for Polish journalists are foreseen. Furthermore, the municipality intends to upgrade the port infrastructure for the service. A new passenger terminal is planned to be built next year and to be officially opened for the season 2015.

The long-term engagement of KZP is the result of positive experiences from the season 2013, in which the M/S “JANTAR” sailed in addition to its core service Kołobrzeg - Nexø also on the line Darłowo – Nexø. The re-established connection saw promising passenger figures and high occupancy rates of the ferry. The likewise tested line Ustka – Nexø, however, will not be maintained by KZP after 2013.
