Gedser: Opening Ceremony for new ferry terminal on 23rd February 2013

Former station shines in new splendor

On 23rd February 2013 Scandlines inaugurated its new ferry terminal in Gedser. 450 guests followed the invitation of the ferry operator and celebrate the opening event.

Scandlines attracted visitors with a varied programme ranging from the performance of local Baltic Orchestra and speeches by Scandlines Executive Chief director Søren Poulsgård Jensen and Mayor of the Municipality John Brædder to artist and singer Kurt Ravn - or "Red" from Matador (a popular Danish television series using Gedser station as location for film shoots). Which was actually the main attraction of the afternoon for most of the guests.

During the event Scandlines chief thanked Gedser citizens for their patience in the construction process. John Brædder overhanded a catalpa tree to him, according to its vision of a green Municipality- a municipality with beautiful scenery, which has a Baltic Sea Orchestra who plays jazz and swing, with a shipping company that carries people south to the sun, and north for vacation and beach as Marielyst. >> more

INTERFACE used the event to present one of its "highlights": Frede Danborg, EU- coordinator at Guldborgsund Municipality and partner in INTERFACE, proudly showed the passenger information board to Gert Petersen, head of the ferry terminal. It is placed inside the new terminal and provides useful information for passengers. Via different buttons the customer gets access to several online resources, as for example:
